BLOOMSBURG —Freshman Jamie Vanartsdalen (Philadelphia/Lower Moreland) recorded her first career hat trick to lead the Bloomsburg University field hockey team to a 5-1 win over Millersville University, Wednesday afternoon.

Vanartsdalens' first goal was also her first of the season. Britteny Fox (Reading/Oley Valley) also recorded her first goal of the season, while Samantha Kropa (Tunkhannock/Lackawanna Trail) accounted for the other Bloomsburg score. Kristi Ney (Dauphin/Central Dauphin East) chipped in with a pair of assists.

Vanartsdalen scored the lone goal of the first half off an assist from Kristi Ney to put the Huskies up 1-0 with 8:54 to play in the half.

In the second half, Vanartsdalen struck again just over eight minutes into the second half off an assist from Ashley Heckard (Millerston/Greenwood) to put Bloomsburg up 2-0. The Marauders Jaclyn Kulesza cut the Huskies lead back to one with just under 13 minutes to play off an assist from Jody Blair. Fox denied any Millersville rally when she scored just two minutes later. Vanartsdalen completed her hat trick when she scored with 7:29 remaining. Kropa punched in the final Bloomsburg goal with just over five minutes to play off an assist from Ney.

In goal, the Huskies' Tracey Hudak (Sweet Valley/Lake-Lehman) stopped five shots to earn her third win of the season.
